Funding & Contributions
A Loot can pay out only what has been escrowed inside it. Funding happens while the Loot is Pending, before it goes live, and locks once the campaign becomes Active.
Fund during the Pending window
Section titled “Fund during the Pending window”Right after you create a Loot, it is Pending. This is when you add rewards:
- Native — send the chain’s native token to the pool.
- ERC-20 — approve the token, then deposit the amount.
- ERC-721 — transfer the specific token IDs into the pool.
The creator automatically becomes the first contributor. Once the start time has passed and the pool holds a contribution, the Loot becomes Active and the balance is fixed. No further top-ups are accepted.
Let others contribute
Section titled “Let others contribute”If you enabled open contribution at creation, anyone can add funds during the Pending window: co-sponsors, partners, or community members who want to increase the reward. Every contributor’s amount, and for NFTs the exact token IDs, is recorded on-chain.
That ledger matters for two reasons:
- It makes funding transparent: anyone can see who backed the campaign.
- It drives reclaim: after the Loot ends, each contributor can recover their pro-rata share of whatever was not claimed.
How much to fund
Section titled “How much to fund”The right amount depends on play style and seats:
- Equal — total ÷ seats is each claimer’s share, so fund for your expected audience size.
- Random — total ÷ seats is the average share; individual rewards vary.
- Custom — fund at least the sum of the allocations you plan to assign.
You do not have to fill every seat. Anything unclaimed when the Loot ends returns to contributors through reclaim, so you can fund generously without leaving value stranded.
